Table Appraisal
Why Appraise?
Antique pool tables are very valuable. There are a number of reasons why you
should clarify the value of yours. Here are some of the things you can do with a
professional appraisal:
• Establish appropriate insurance coverage
• Quickly settle insurance claims after a fire or burglary
• Plan your estate
• Decide if repairs to the table would be worth the cost
• Determine a sale price for the table
• Document the worth of a donated table, for tax purposes
Some appraisers offer advice on everything kind of antique under the sun. We
focus solely on pool tables. Marschak’s knows their history, the climate of
today’s market for them, and the ins and outs of expert restoration.
Tables are often missing the original nameplates that identified their manufacturers.
Most have incorrect name plates that were changed over the years by small
distributors. Regardless of name, most tables were made by
Brunswick. Most others are a copy that followed the Brunswick line.
Marschak’s Antiques can identify and valuate such tables. On the odd occasion when we cannot
identify the manufacturer, we can still valuate the table based on the value of
similar models.
How To Start.
Please mail photographs by USPS, no email photos excepted. The photographs
should show the table from all angles. Remember, the better the quality of the
photos, the better job we can do. We will mail, fax or e-mail the appraisal to
you within one week of receiving your photographs and
contact information. Our address is P.O. Box 1201 Dubois, WY 82513.
Price.
Our fee is $100 per table, payable by check, money order.
A written
appraisal of your antique pool table from Marschak’s Antiques will include the
following:
• In most cases the name of the table model, the name of the manufacturer, and the date of
the patent design.
• An estimate of how much it would cost in the current market to replace a fully
restored table of that same model or one of similar value.
• An estimate of how much you would have to pay to have the table fully restored
by a professional with expertise in antique pool tables.
• An estimate of how much you could expect to receive for the table if you sold
it today in its current condition.
